Pay: $21–$27 per hour

What You’ll Do

As a Pediatric Medical Assistant , you will support physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners while helping create a welcoming, safe, and positive experience for children and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Welcome patients and families and prepare them for their visits.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and obtain accurate medical histories.
  • Measure and document complete vital signs.
  • Review and update medications, allergies, immunizations, social history, and other information in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures.
  • Perform point-of-care testing within your training, certification, and applicable regulations.
  • Complete pre-visit planning in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to electronic medical record inbox messages and patient voicemails throughout the day.
  • Clean, disinfect, prepare, and restock examination and treatment rooms.
  • Maintain required clinical logs and safety checks, including refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, oxygen, and expired medications.
  • Support front-office functions when needed, including patient check-in and check-out, appointment scheduling, and answering phones.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, providers, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist with other clinical and administrative responsibilities as needed to support the success of the practice.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Graduation from an accredited healthcare program, such as Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, or EMT, or equivalent relevant work experience (2 years as a medical assistant)
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to maintain all certifications required by applicable state guidelines
  • Strong computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or other nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification
  • One to three years of Medical Assistant experience in pediatrics or family medicine
  • Electronic medical record experience
  • Experience using the athenahealth practice management system

Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires standing, reaching, using hands, speaking, and hearing. It may also require walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees must be able to frequently lift or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move more than 25 pounds. Compensation

$21–$27 per hour
